Megan Stephens

Co-CEO and Owner

about

In her role as a brand strategist and agency owner following the purchase of Willoughby in 2016, Megan has led a large range of brand identity, consumer packaged goods and retail experience projects. Whether infusing new energy to help brands compete in the ever-changing marketplace or creating new brands from the ground up, she specializes in framing the business challenge, synthesizing the strategy, ideating solutions and then working with the design team to bring those ideas to life.

Over her 25 year career, Megan’s national clients have ranged from Lee Jeans, Dixie, Hershey and Pet Supplies Plus to the United Nations. Forever Kansas City loyal, Megan is proud of Willoughby’s contribution to building local brands including Visit KC, KC Chamber, RideKC, KC Pet Project and, most recently, the naming and branding of the Kansas City Current. As a lifelong soccer player and passionate advocate for the advancement of women, it was a bucket list kind of project.

Megan’s work has received numerous local and national awards and she is a regular speaker on brand design and the creative process. She has served on several boards and committees and has donated services to a large range of not-for-profit organizations, most recently including Operation Breakthrough, NonProfit Connect and Kansas City Girl’s Preparatory Academy. She chaired the 2022 annual DIG IN! dinner for Cultivate KC and is a member of the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentorship Program class of 2021.

Inspired by her affinity for words and stories, Megan has a BS in Journalism with an emphasis in Sociology, Psychology and Geography from the University of Kansas. At the end of the day, she’s just one of the boys at home with her husband, two sons, two pups Lexi and Lou and the occasional backyard toad.
