ICOM, one of the world’s largest global networks of independent advertising and marketing communications agencies, is strengthening its southern European presence with the appointment of Mosca Publicidade to represent the network in Portugal.
Mosca Director General Manuel Oliveira is no stranger to ICOM. Having been a member as managing partner of his previous agency, he was eager to reconnect with like-minded agency owners to continue to grow Mosca, which he started four years ago.
Based in Lisbon, the agency, self-described as a post-digital agency, has found a niche offering a good mix of the best of traditional advertising agency services and the best of emerging digital agencies.
“Traditional agencies have found it difficult to adapt to the new digital world just as digital agencies have found it difficult to move from programmers to communicators,” Oliveira says. “And the result has been advertisers are lost. We are positioned to be digitally savvy, but with a focus on communication.”
"In this new generation agency, the idea returns to be the main concern and how to create the best solutions with the smallest possible resources," he said.
The agency has a diverse list of clients from unique Portuguese beverages of Licor Beirão and Port Wine Velhotes, E. Leclerc Supermarkets and restaurants to airport operator ANA Airports (Vinci) and various financial and travel consulting services.
Membership in ICOM provides agencies the same benefits of a multinational global agency network while at the same time allowing ICOM members to remain independent. Agencies have immediate access to shared international resources and databases. Principals are encouraged to develop ongoing relationships with other member agency owners like themselves in a non-competitive environment.
ICOM Executive Director Emma Keenan said the network continues to expand its membership adding agencies that share the same values, goals and philosophy of other ICOM members.
