Background & Responsibilities:
Juan is ICOM’s Digital Projects and Communications Manager, bringing to the team over 8 years of project and program management experience in the architecture, communications, education, e-learning, finance, media, software development, and real estate industries. His responsibilities include managing the network’s digital tools, creating and distributing marketing materials, overseeing the network’s agency contact database and directory, and coordinating communication with network members.
Juan is a graduate of Columbia University in the City of New York, where he studied architectural design and natural sciences. He recently started his own digital project management company and is excited to offer his services to support ICOM’s member agencies. He is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, and conversational in French.
In his free time, Juan enjoys hiking in the countryside, traveling and experiencing other cultures, and learning new languages.
Country/State: I am currently based in Medellín, Colombia, but I also consider Miami and New York City, USA home.
The professional accomplishment I’m proudest of…pivoting to the technology industry and being able to offer digital project and program management services to my clients.
The music in my headphones…is a mixture of my two cultures - Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Jazz, Rock, Hip Hop, and Ska.
A saying that inspires or guides me…”Failure is a stepping stone to success.”
My ideal break…exploring the streets of a city I have never been to before.
An event you absolutely must see in my country…the Feria de las Flores (the Flowers Festival) in Medellin! Beautifully decorated floats with designs entirely created from local flowers.
To make a name for yourself you have to…build trust with your colleagues and clients by consistently showing up, communicating clearly, and being yourself.
