Reindeers on the roof of Solaris Center

Christmas is always a good time for advertising agencies. However, it can be a nightmare for copywriters and other creative people to say “Merry Christmas” like it has never been said before and make the client stand out in all of the holiday-madness.

Have you ever seen real reindeers in the city on the roof of a big entertainment center? We hadn’t. But most of us have heard stories of how Santa comes with his sleigh and reindeers and lands on roofs. Taking our inspiration from this, we created a Christmas Park on the roof of the newly opened five-story entertainment center, Solaris, that is comprised of two cinemas, the Nokia Concert Hall and a shopping center.

We built a yard for two reindeers – Miia and Sepo who came from Santa’s land – Rovaniemi, Finland. Children could feed the reindeers and sit on Santa’s lap.  We had decorated Christmas trees and all of this on top of a building with one the best views over Tallinn.

The park proved to be extremely popular – so much so that Solaris had to open the evacuation staircase because elevators couldn’t carry all the people who wanted to go to the roof.

The client got very good press coverage in all media, including national televison that normally does not allow any advertising.

The reindeers proved to be such a success that we will probably do it again in 2010!
